A moment later, the elevator doors open with a quiet ding and he steps out onto their new floor. They’re several doors down the hall, if he’s reading the numbers right, and when he finally spots the two he’s looking for, he’s thrilled to find out they’re still directly across the hall from one another. How convenient!
But he does set Wriothesley on his feet again, only to grab his wrist. And wave the man’s watch in front of the lock so the door would open. Which it does, revealing a bright and currently empty room.
[He can see what floor they're on at the elevator as he's carried down the hallway and away from it.
...?
Were they meeting someone? Not that he's unopposed, but he isn't really the type to show up in front of a stranger looking like he just rolled out of bed. Even if that's exactly what just happened.
Instead, he looks at the door he's put in front of and watches as Sylvain grabs his wrist and presses his watch to the door. The sound of it unlocking and having the door pushed open-]
[His brain has caught up. Maybe. He looks at the other as he nudged into the empty room. It's a far cry from the rank 4 rooms. Roomy and large and while there isn't real sun being shone through the windows, it is bright and inviting.
He stares into the space before turning back to the other.]
What? [He then looks at his watch and-
Ah, there's the notification.] How? [It isn't even that he's ungrateful. He's just..boggled? Confused? Wriothesley was content in the basement, so why? There were people who probably could do with the better living space than him.]
[ He just gives the man the time he needs to let this sink in, content to stay leaned against the door frame watching him. But the obvious bewilderment has him chuckling.
It’s precisely because Wriothesley would be in no hurry to do this for himself that Sylvain had done it for him. ]
Easy, actually. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to do it right on this watch-thingy. [ He was still not very adept with this whole technology thing, after all. ] Besides. I was gonna be lonely if you didn’t come with. Who was I gonna pester across the hall in the early hours of… noon?
[ And he jabs his thumb over his shoulder, indicating the door across the hall which led to his new room. ]
Besides. I heard the beds up here were harder to break. We should test that out.
Hah... [He runs a hand through his hair, obviously torn in how to respond. He isn't ungrateful, but maybe Wriothesley is just unused to the concept being presented to him. He had spent most, if not all, of his life striving to get what he wanted. Only being rewarded when he puts the effort in.
What do you do when you're suddenly given such a kind gesture?] You didn't have to you know. [He's just a little flustered. Wriothesley rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.] Thank you.
[He snorts and gently punches the other in the arm.] I'm telling you, you're too energetic in the morning! I'm going to be an awful lay right now. [This is probably a lie.]
[ It’s stated cheerfully - even a bit cheekily - as Sylvain slings an arm around Wriothsley’s shoulders and surveys his new room. ]
I wanted to. And I had the hands to get it done. I figured you wouldn’t spend yours on yourself for a while, but I like having you across the hall. It would be lonely up here without you.
[ And he’s totally pouting at you now. Even if it is in play.
[Wriothesley shoves at the other just a bit, but there's no real strength behind the way he pushes at Sylvain. He has grown quite the soft spot for the redhead and he's sure they're quite aware of it.]
Ranking up wasn't a priority, you're right. [Wriothesley was someone who valued what he had, no matter how little, and rarely thought about lavishing himself with more.
Not that it matters, now that he's now here in his new room with the other. He huffs a little. Sylvain knows exactly how to get under his skin, don't they? And maybe the mention of being lonely resonates with Wriothesley more than he'll admit.] When you say it like that and you give me that face, how can I say no to you? You can ask anything of me at this point and I'd say.
Couldn't you have waited until I was more awake? [Wriothesley isn't the type who sleeps in, knowing he usually had plenty of work to get done or just usually having something that'll keep him busy. He just sometimes held very odd hours and that sometimes meant he was up later than he should be and getting up later because of it.]
I'm exasperated, don't get me wrong. You could have done this who might need or want it more than I. I was making do with what we had, fine. [And that's most likely why Sylvain had done it. Because Wriothesley would rather boost up others than himself. That he wasn't going to do it himself.]
You already know that. [He grabs the other though and tugs him into the living room area. The window is set to some default, day scene of some kind. Wriothesley already seems to be fiddling with the controls to see what options there was.] Have you been planning this for awhile then? This wasn't a spur of the moment decision, right?
Not really. But anytime I’d brought it up in the past, you were always quick to brush it off. And ‘making do’ is a far cry from being comfortable, you realize. Besides. If you got any more parts shoved into that room down there, there wasn’t going to be room for you. Let alone whoever you fancied taking back there for the night.
Although I’ve noticed that’s been happening less of late anyway. [ A smirk, as he crosses his arms over his chest and watches Wriothesley tinker with the window. ] Nesting still going well, I take it?
[ Yeah, he’s still never letting you live that down. ]
I wasn’t uncomfortable though. [And this probably says a lot about Wriothesley. Someone who can honestly vibe in poorer situations because he had experienced the absolutely worst conditions. And maybe, he was starting to be more conscious of it.
He laughs softly.] Maybe I have been collecting too many parts recently. [But he won’t know what exactly he needs until he starts constructing. He will graciously appreciate the extra space to work with now.
Wriothesley ends up finding a scene he likes. Instead of a sky scene, it’s an underwater scene. It bathes the room in blue and offers a feeling of something serene. He missed the sight of the ocean through the large glass windows before entering the Fortress proper.]
He- oh, come on! Why must you bring that up anytime you can? The nesting thing was because I was a rabbit! You can’t hold that over my head forever. [Hate this guy, actually. You tell your best friend you got fucked in your best by a guy and now they won’t let you forget it happened.]
Can't I though? It's such a great thing to hold over your head. Especially when you get so flustered every time. Should we go inspect your new closet just in case? Make sure it's roomy enough if you get the urge to start nesting again?
If you're going to keep teasing me, I'm going to throw you out of my room with my bare hands, bastard. [This is definitely a threat that Wriothesley will go through with. No matter Sylvain's size, he'll toss this man out like a bag of garbage.]
You haven't been head over heels for someone before? [You're probably just as lame, Sylvain Jose Gautier.]
[ He just gives a dry chuckle at that, quickly shaking his head. ]
Nooo, I tend to avoid emotions getting messy like that. It never ends well. Much safer to keep it to just a bit of fun.
[ Although he's been increasingly bad at that since arriving here. Then again, there's a somewhat smaller pool of people he knows here. Fewer still he trusts. His one-and-done policy had gone out the window at the same time. ]
Hmm. Am I just a bit of fun then? [His tone is even and light. There's no judgment in his voice nor does he seem to be judging the other. It's just interesting to know how Sylvain feels about the both of them.
Besides, he already knew that Sylvain cared about him the same way that he cared about the other. Sylvain's concern for his health back in April about his injuries was not something the man was acting out.
He gets it though. Feelings were difficult and fickle at best and the two of them were similar in many ways.] I wouldn't want to become one of your messes.
[ It’s really rude to call him out like this, Wriothesley. ]
well, you’re not not fun. [ he evades instead, rolling his eyes. ] As for the messy…
[ He huffs out a sigh, scraping fingers through tousled red hair. ] I’m pretty sure everything in this place has the potential to get messy. I’ve already broken most of my rules a dozen times over. At this point, all of it is a mess.
[Sometimes someone has to call you out. Sorry, not sorry, Sylvain.
Evading his question is as much of an answer as answering it. He already knew the answer though, so he doesn't say anything more on it.] Sometimes, rules were meant to be broken. [Which is funny for a man who upholds rules to be saying it.
Wriothesley just knows what rules feel like they're worth upholding and which ones were meant to be broken.] Well, since it's already a mess, then you won't mind making it messier right?
I like the messes you make. They're some of my favorite messes.
[The words are light but there is a brutal honesty in them. The obvious affection as he drags the other into the bedroom.]
The bedroom. Where else? [A sudden harsh yank and he tugs Sylvain to fall onto the bed with him.] You woke me up, remember? I think I have the right to steal a bit of your afternoon for the trouble.
You haven't seen half the messes I'm capable of making.
[ He snickers as he says this, even those words are completely true. But he's laughing as he tumbles back onto the bed and then gives a sharp yank on Wriothesley's hand in turn to make sure he comes with, more than content to land with him even as he rolls over onto his side to smirk at the other man. ]
Also I don't think this counts as afternoon yet. And what trouble??? I got you a giant bed! That we can both fit in! At the same time! One that's not broken, even!
Doesn't that just means I have something to look forward to then?
[But Wriothesley just laughs as the both of them fall onto the large bed. It is far better than what they had in the rank 4 rooms they had been in for the last few months.]
Waking me up and carrying me off like a sack of potatoes is trouble! [He acts mock offended at Sylvain's actions. Even as he merely presses closer to Sylvain.] I'm going back to sleep and you're staying with me.
[Which is surprisingly bold from the boxer. Sylvain knew Wriothesley's sleeping habits by now from however many times they've ended up sleeping with each other. How easy it was to wake the other up, like his body doesn't fully fall asleep in the presence of another, or how he's awake before Sylvain in the morning. This was a rarity for Wriothesley to just drag the other back into bed with not ulterior motives than to just go back to sleep.]

[ That’s the cheerfully vague answer he’s given.
Yeah, that’s all he’s giving. Sorry, Wriothesley. ]

[It's said with such fond exasperation, but with the honesty of a man who might go through with it at the same time.]

[ And he just pats Wriothesley fondly on the ass.

Welp. Here goes nothing. ]
